More than 3,000 prisoners in California are held in isolation units, according to the U.S. Dept. of Corrections and Rehabilitation. No other U.S. state is believed to have held so many prisoners for such long periods in indefinite isolation.
Despite the fact that marijuana is legal in Colorado and medical marijuana is legal in 20 states, there are still hundreds of marijuana convicts sitting in American jails.
