"These are kids. Some of them are babies," said Sen. Gillibrand. "These children are coming from very dangerous communities where we've seen gang violence, where children are tortured. Any right-minded parent would seek a safe place for their child...Their claims should be adjudicated right away. They are fleeing unsafe environments. They should be given refugee status based on all the information we have to date."
"We all look at Washington and know it's broken, but one of the exceptions is the women. We often work extremely well together across partisan lines," said Sen. Gillibrand. "The more women's voices that are heard, we will have better outcomes…we need more women holding Congress accountable."
She also talked about a possible run by Hillary Clinton for president in 2016.
"I think she'll be an amazing candidate. And so I'm going to do everything I can to make sure she's elected."
