Eva Longoria and Christina Aguilera's Winning Red Carpet Style at the 2012 ALMA Awards

Univision News

Just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15), the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) has one again enlisted powerhouse Eva Longoria to executive produce its annual American Latino Media Arts Awards (ALMA), celebrating positive portrayals of Latinos in entertainment. Longoria, who is a fan of changing gowns several times throughout the night to showcase Latino designers, is also co-hosting with George Lopez.

There was no shortage of Latino talent from the worlds of movies, music, TV, even sports, at last Sunday's taping of the one-hour primetime TV special, airing Friday, Sept. 21 on NBC.

Actress and new mommy Roselyn Sanchez went back to her dancing and singing roots and opened the show with Flo Rida, while Luis Fonsi performed a bilingual duet with country superstar Martina McBride.

Christina Aguilera received a special achievement award honoring her incredible career and humanitarian work. Though she arrived fashionably late, Xtina stopped to give us the scoop on her new album, Lotus, due Nov. 13. The star coach of The Voice wore a curve-hugging, black Michael Kors gown and purple and pink strands in her platinum blonde hair.

Ana Ortiz, star of Lifetime's upcoming series Devious Maids, Diego Boneta, who won Favorite Movie Actor for his role in Rock of Ages, and rising actress/MC Gina Rodriguez of the independent drama Filly Brown also stopped by to talk to us on the red carpet. We spotted Zoe Saldana on the carpet with what looked like her whole family, but she was whisked away before we could say hello.

If we had to pick the night's most fashionable celebs, we'd have to go with Longoria (who is seen wearing Monique Lhuillier on the carpet) and Aguilera. Both proved that wearing black doesn't mean playing it safe.
