Latin Grammy Awards 2012 Full List of Nominees

The nominees for the 13th Annual Latin Grammy Awards are in! At a press conference this morning in L.A.'s Belasco Theater, the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Scienes, along with several of this year's nominees, unveiled the nominations for the different categories of Latin music's most prestigious awards show, taking place in Las Vegas on November 15th at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and airing live on Univision.

Juanes, who received four nominations (including Album of the Year) for his MTV Unplugged was present to announce the Best New Artist nominees, a category which this year boasts 10 artists, as opposed to the usual five -- among them, Juan Magan of "Bailando Por Ahi" fame. After the press conference, 17-time Latin Grammy winner Juanes described his latest album as a "rebirth" of sorts. His bluesy duet "Azul Sabina" with the prolific Spanish singer/songwriter Joaquin Sabina was a clear favorite among Academy members this year; it's up for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Maestro Juan Luis Guerra, who was the musical director behind Juanes' rebirth album, leads with six nominations, including Song of the Year for his "En El Cielo No Hay Hospital," from his latest collection of Christian music, infused with tropical flavor.

Quadruple nominee Carla Morrison (her nods include Best Alternative Music Album and Album of the Year for her Dejenme Llorar) was at home in Mexico when she received the news and sent this reaction to us via e-mail: "I am so happy and grateful to God for this beautiful life! Being nominated is something I never imagined...Thank you for believing in my independent work, honesty was the root of it all."

Colombian band ChocQuibTown received three nods, including Album of the Year for their Eso Es Lo Que Hay. Member Goyo expressed how honored they were for the recognition. "We're just proud to represent the region [of Choco in Colombia]," he said, adding a special shout-out to Univision's Ilia Calderon, Edicion Nocturna's anchor and another proud Afro-Colombian who hails from the same place. "She's really doing an amazing job of representing who we are as a people," Goyo added.

Mexican siblings and pop duo Jesse & Joy from Mexico, who have had great success with their ballad "Corre" on YouTube (96 million views and counting) are nominated in six categories, tied with Juan Luis Guerra for most nods this year. When asked about acceptance speeches, Jesse joked: "My dad always told me: 'Stand tall so people can see you, speak loud enough so people can hear you, but briefly so they'll love you."

Best New Artist nominees 3BallMTY were on hand to speak to reporters after the press conference and joked that one of the perks of making it in the music industry is better clothes. "We have a new song with [Puerto Rican urban duo] J.King y Maximan called 'La Noche Esta de Fiesta', and another one coming with Jowell y Randy," said the group's Erick Rincon about the follow-up to their oft-remixed tribal guarachero anthem, "Intentalo."

"The fact that they don't fit neatly into any category speaks to how innovative their sound is," said their producer Toy Selectah, proudly. "They're not regional Mexican, they're not quite alternative, they're not pop or urban. And they're so young, they've only just begun. Whether they're at home in Monterrey or on tour, they're always working on new music. It's something that's a part of their daily lives."
