A Little Inspiration For Lindsay Lohan: Here Are 8 Celebrities Who Have Stayed Clean

Lindsay Lohan has checked out of rehab this week after struggling with substance abuse for the sixth time. Her movie, The Canyons, comes out tomorrow, August 2nd, and she's guest-hosting Chelsea Lately on Monday, August 5th. Good things are ahead for the 27-year-old actress and we're hoping she sticks to her sobriety this time. We're hoping a little inspiration from fellow celebrities who have stayed clean can help keep Lindsay positive. Here are eight celebrities who have sobered up. Some have relapsed, some have decided to help others with their sobriety, and some have stayed clean. We know it's not easy, but we know you can do it, Lindsay.

Russell Brand
Sober: 10 years "The last time I thought about taking heroin was yesterday," he's written on his website, RussellBrand.TV. The British comedian had a documentary released last year, Russell Brand: From Addiction to Recovery, and started a fund called "Give It Up" to raise money and awareness about recovery.

Drew Barrymore
Sober: Since 1990… sort of Drew Barrymore is a rare case. She has her own pinot grigio called Barrymore and doesn't consider herself "sober." She told Parade Magazine in 2009, "No, I'm not [completely sober]. And I don't claim to be -- quite the opposite. I've tried to find the balance. I hope it's balanced." Our advice: don't try this lifestyle unless you're sure you won't relapse.

Robin Williams
Sober: For 20 years beginning in 1983; relapsed for 3 years with alcohol in 2003, and has been sober since 2006 Williams has said he kicked his cocaine and alcohol addiction in '83 after his fellow comedian and good friend, John Belushi, overdosed, and he was expecting his first born. He was clean for 20 years before binge-drinking for 3 years from 2003 to 2006. His family finally intervened and he went to residential rehab. He's been sober for the past 7 years.

Robert Downey Jr.
Sober: 12 years The actor has made quite a comeback in Hollywood. He made Forbes' list of Hollywood's Highest-Paid Actors in a measure between June 2012 and June 2013. Could his sobriety be credited? He says yoga, kung fu, and his wife, Susan Levin, keep him in check.

Elton John
Sober: 23 years The musical idol said he started doing drugs in 1974 to fit in because he didn't think of himself as handsome or good-looking. Finally, in 1990, he faced his "demons" of "confrontation, shyness, and self-loathing," and cleaned up with the support of his husband, David Furnish.
