Apocalypse 2012: This Is How It Will Go Down, According To Michelle Rodriguez

Is the world really going to end this December, like the Mayans predicted? I don't have the answer to that, but I do know that Resident Evil: Retribution comes out today in 3D. Fans of the Capcom video game and the other four movies based on the latter are excited, to say the least. Michelle Rodriguez reprises her role as Rain, a super-soldier trained to kill humanity's only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich, who defies aging).

In this installment, the Umbrella Corporation's deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, converting more and more humans into the flesh-munchers known as the Undead. Alice's fight to save mankind takes her from Tokyo to Moscow to NYC, and let me tell you, it's a scary version of the world as we know it. Luckily, a few old friends show up to help Alice, including Luther (Boris Kodjoe, in many sleeveless shots) and Ada (Bingbing Li).

If, to use the movie's tagline, "evil goes global" in real life, even our favorite on-screen bad-ass M-Rod will be shaking in her boots. And you should be, too.

The 34-year-old rebel-with-a-cause, who just wrapped Machete Kills in Robert Rodriguez's Austin studio, is now shooting The Fast and the Furious 6 in London, and had to jet in and out of LA for a recent press day supporting her new film.

Here's what we were able to sneak in, in between our "hi" and "bye" with a hug.

How probable do you think this scenario from the movie is in the real world?

Did you ever see the movie Contagion? I thought it was the most accurate depiction of what in this day and age this spread would be. If there is something that comes out and it does spread via air or by touch we're fucked! We're screwed, excuse my language. We are so screwed it's not even funny. Resident Evil would be putting it mildly! If it's something that makes people psycho like that, like makes human beings literally bite each other…

Which already happened in Miami, by the way…

No, but that guy was on the bath salts. Did you see what that does to people?

Actually, I think they just found weed in him, that's it.

Well, maybe it didn't register. It's nuts what happens to people on bath salts. It's almost as if they have Tourette [syndrome], and they stay in this hateful state forever. But imagine if there was some sort of contagion that was that powerful.

I don't wanna be here.

Yeah, me neither!

Out of all the bad-asses that you've played on-screen, Letty from Fast and the Furious, Luz from Machete and now Machete Kills, and of course Rain in Resident Evil, if you could create the perfect creature out of all of them, what would you take from whom?

Oh wow, that's interesting. I would take the military training from someone like Rain from Resident Evil, I would take Letty's car-driving skills and her climbing abilities-- she's really good at latching onto stuff in mid-air. I would probably take Diana's boxing capabilities from Girlfight, and I would probably invent a new character just for brains. I'd make her really, really, really smart, and rich. Like, loaded!

You were actually able to pull the ultimate trick in the upcoming Fast and the Furious, which I know you're shooting in London now -- you've been brought back to life! The last time we talked you said, "Anytime you've got a wild, independent, free-spirited woman, she has to die at the end of the movie, unless it's a movie that's so sci-fi that it can't be real, like Tomb Raider." You showed them!

Isn't that nuts? It helps to have people who actually get that it's cool and that there's an audience for that. Ultimately that's all it is, it's a plea to say, 'Hey, I'm just representing for a couple of girls out there who actually want to see girls like them onscreen.' That's all I'm doing is just reppin' them.
