Uriel Lopez is an Immigration Advocate at Centro La Familia Advocacy Services in Fresno, California, a non-profit assisting mainly the Latino community in the San Joaquin Valley. In his role, he assists low-income immigrants with various immigration legal services. He has worked extensively with communities in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as in the San Joaquin Valley. He is passionate about education, immigration, and access to health care. Recently, he participated in an internship program in Washington, D.C. with the U.S. House of Representatives Education and Workforce Committee. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Chicano studies from the University of California at Berkeley. As a fellow, he hopes to focus his reporting on healthcare for undocumented immigrants and linguistic minorities, and overall access to health care in the San Joaquin Valley.
