Lupita Nyong'o Teaches You How to Smile on Mexico's Sesame Street

Lupita Nyong'o recently appeared on “Plaza Sésamo,” the Mexican produced adaptation of the children’s show Sesame Street on the show's “Smile Day” episode. The Oscar winning actress appears in an 18-second segment that teaches kids how to… you guessed it: smile.

“Hello, I’m Lupita, today I want us to celebrate smile day,” Nyong'o says in Spanish.

“Do you know how smile? Why don’t we smile together? Ready, 1, 2, 3!”

Nyong'o was born in Mexico City, Mexico to Kenyan parents in 1983. Her family moved back to Kenya before she turned one. Nyong'o has dual Kenyan and Mexican citizenship and speaks English, Spanish, Luo and Swahili.
