Time to play campaign ad bingo! Can you guess how many of these phrases are in this story: NRA, guns, Benghazi and Donald Trump?
It’s three out of four. The National Rifle Association dropped its first ad of the 2016 campaign season this week and guess what? It’s for Trump and it’s Benghazi-themed. But somewhat surprisingly, there are no references to guns.
The ad stars Mark “Oz” Geist, a retired Marine and survivor of the Benghazi attacks turned motivational speaker. The ad features Geist at Alexandria National Cemetery (and reportedly violated federal policy about filming at hallowed grounds, natch).
Geist gives a shoutout to the #NeverTrump crowd, but concludes “Hillary as president? No thanks. I served in Benghazi. My friends didn’t make it.” So we're really doing this? Great, get ready for the next four months.
