Maria Daly, the wife of a police officer in Millbury, Massachusetts, some 43 miles west of Boston, is facing charges from her husband’s own department of staging a home robbery and pinning it on #BlackLivesMatter, via a “BLM” spray-painted on the side of the house.
Daly played up that angle, of course, posting, “We woke up to not only our house being robbed while we were sleeping, but to see this hatred for no reason,” on Facebook shortly after filing her false police report, CBS Boston reported.
“She must have tagged the place herself,” Gusti Sauber, a neighbor told CBS Boston. “I don’t know why you’d do that, if you’re gonna stage a robbery, I mean really come on, you’re a cop’s wife. You should know better.”
“The motive behind this incident was financial difficulties,” Interim Millbury Police Chief Donald Desorcy told the Boston Globe Friday, but that doesn’t address the assignment of blame to black activists, which seem like an attempt to discredit their work. As noted by Complex, it follows another incident last year in which a Dallas man vandalized his own truck and spray-painted BLACK LIVES MATTER on it, only to later admit he did it for insurance purposes.
White people attempting to defraud insurance companies by accusing black activists of petty vandalism and theft is Extremely 2016 in the worst way possible.
