Just kidding!

After driving everyone to the brink of insanity, FBI gives Clinton emails the all-clear (again)

FBI Director James Comey’s October surprise that the FBI had found new emails tangentially related to Hillary Clinton on Anthony Weiner’s laptop has all been for naught.

In a three-paragraph letter to congressional chairmen sent on Sunday, he wrote that the FBI has analyzed all of the emails it found and came to the same conclusion it did in July: that Clinton’s actions with her emails are not prosecutable.

In the nine days since Comey’s first letter, notifying the same congressional chairmen that the investigation into Clinton’s emails was not, as he said in July, over, Comey has become a hero to Donald Trump, been accused of seriously violating FBI and Department of Justice protocol, and been accused of potentially violating federal law.

There have been various conflicting reports as to why he broke protocol the way he did, ranging from being worried that pro-Trump subordinates would leak damaging information if he didn’t put anything out to wanting to cover himself legally after testifying under oath that the investigation had been closed.

“We have seen Director Comey’s latest letter to the Hill,” Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri said Sunday. “We’re glad to see that he has found, as we were confident that he would, that he has confirmed the conclusions he reached in July, and we’re glad the matter is resolved.”

Shortly after the news broke, Donald Trump promised that Hillary Clinton would be under investigation for a “long, long time.” It was unclear whether he had seen Comey’s letter.
