Top Latina Republican Ana Navarro just announced she’s voting for Hillary Clinton. Here’s why.

CNN

CNN talking head Ana Navarro has risen to viral fame these past few months by ripping her fellow Republican Donald Trump over and over and over again, in increasingly colorful fashion. But when someone would ask Navarro where her vote would actually go, she’d respond, flippantly, that she planned on writing in her mother.

“The question is what is it going to do to that very small percentage of people who have yet to make a decision,” Navarro said last week. “And it is — you know, does it disgust them to the point where they don’t participate? They are faced with a choice between a bad person or a person with bad judgment. It is a very bad choice for the American people.”

Apparently, Navarro changed her mind, because in an op-ed dropped on CNN the day before the presidential election, she announced she’s planning on voting for Hillary Clinton.

“I voted against Donald Trump because I am an immigrant,” Navarro wrote. “Trump has spent this campaign focusing on the very bad things done by a very small group of very bad immigrants. He has portrayed immigrants as criminals, rapists, and murderers. He does not talk about the contributions immigrants have made to America. He does not talk about immigrants who have made this a better and stronger country.”

Navarro explained she’d hope her home state of Florida would drift away from Trump, and that she’d be able to cast a protest vote without sweating the consequences. But, as Navarro observes, Florida could very well end up deciding the 2016 election.

She also said that her Latina heritage motivated her.

“I voted against Donald Trump because I am Hispanic,” she wrote. “On June 16, 2015, the first day of his campaign, Trump called Mexicans “rapists.” I was not born in Mexico. I am not of Mexican descent. But I knew he was also talking about me.”
