Four More Years of Immigration Gridlock? One Congressman Says It’s Possible

One congressman tied to the immigration debate believes the window to pass a reform package could soon close, and not reopen for four years.

“The next time—if we don’t do it this year—we’ll be talking about it in 2017,” Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) said in a recent interview with Fusion.

“I am hoping we will do something soon on this,” Cuellar added. “Because if we don’t, the window will close. And then we got to wait because we got the 2014 election, then the 2016 presidential election.”
