Need a Job? Check Out These 5 Start-Ups

Many people in our generation are looking for jobs that have more meaning than just climbing a corporate ladder. So, it’s no surprise that so many are choosing to work for start-up companies.

Start-up companies give employees tremendous opportunity for growth and a lot of that has to do with the high level of responsibility companies will give you. Employees often have opportunities to tackle different tasks as the company grows and evolves, which they might not have at an established company where employees have clearly defined jobs. The breadth of experience start-ups offer translates very positively on a resume.

Start-ups also usually have younger leadership, which can create stronger relationships between the leadership and the employees.

The Daily Muse founder Kathryn Minshew told Fusion’s Alicia Menendez during an interview that one tip she can’t stress enough is to make sure you emulate the start-up’s mission and vision when applying and interviewing for a position. Often times, start-ups place more value on someone who shares in the same goal and vision, rather than someone with a lot of “skills.”

In the video above, Minshew gives more advice for applying and landing that coveted start-up job. She also reveals the start-up companies that are currently hiring aggressively:
