You probably didn’t watch, but the MTV Movie Awards happened last night. MTV paused their regular programming of “16 and Pregnant” and “Girl Code” marathons to hand out awards for categories that we can only assume were created by 14-year-old girls (“Best #WTF Moment!”)

If not for Zac Efron’s perfectly chiseled chest, no one would even be talking about the show this morning. Hopefully MTV has sent a big thank you basket to Rita Ora (see below).

We’ve been hard on MTV lately but it’s only because we know they can do better. We may be watching “Game of Thrones” and “Mad Men” on Sunday nights now instead of the lame awards show, but we still get nostalgic over the major MTV moments of the past.

Here are 5 MTV Movie Award moments from back in the day that made the show bearable to watch:

5. WHO’S THAT HIPPIE? JIM CARREY ACCEPTS AWARD IN FULL DISGUISE

No one recognized Jim Carrey when he showed up at the 1999 MTV Movie Awards in a full on disguise, as only Jim Carrey could do. MTV talent managers reported hearing he had arrived to the show and not being able to find him. Things got weirder – and funnier – when he accepted the award for Best Male Performance for “The Truman Show”

4. SLIM SHADY-STUNT: EMINEM AND BRUNO TEAM UP

Eminem and Sacha Baron Cohen have a history of memorable award show moments, so it only made sense the two would pair up for the 2009 show. Viewers were shocked when Cohen descended from the roof in character as Bruno, wearing only a thong and wings, and landed right in Eminem’s face. It was later confirmed the entire stunt was planned:

3. SO FETCH: THE YEAR LINDSAY LOHAN HOSTED

It was a simpler time for all us: Lindsay Lohan before rehab, DUIs and mug shots. Lindsay was riding high on the Mean Girls glow (and hopefully nothing else) when she hosted the awards in 2004. Lindsay opened the show with SNL’s Rachel Dratch and Andy Richter playing her disapproving parents and showed off her dance skills in a white romper

2. SCIENTOLOGISTS CAN DANCE TOO: TOM CRUISE BREAKS IT DOWN WITH J-LO DRESSED AS LES GROSMAN

2010 showed us Tom Cruise as we had never seen him before. The actor – dressed as Tropic Thunder’s Les Grosman broke it down with Ludacris and surprise guest Jennifer Lopez. Don’t miss Katie Holmes dancing along in the crowd!

1. IF YOURE A BIRD, I’M A BIRD: THE EPIC RYAN GOSLING & RACHEL MCADAMS KISS

It was the kiss heard ‘round the world. The Notebook stars and then-couple Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams accepted the award for ‘Best Kiss’ at the 2005 awards with an epic lip-lock. We blame this MTV moment for why we still cant get over their breakup.
