El Chapo: CEO of Crime, Captured

After 13 years on the run, Joaquin Guzmán Loera, better known as “El Chapo” or “Shorty” in Spanish, has been captured.

For years he served as the CEO of the most powerful criminal organization worldwide – the Sinaloa drug cartel. Mexican marines ended the manhunt on Saturday morning by arresting Guzmán at about 6 a.m. local time in the beach town of Mazatlán.

Guzmán, 56, was found with an unidentified woman and no shots were fired. His arrest came on the heels of the takedown of several top Sinaloa cartel members in the last week.

According to U.S. authorities, Mexican forces acted on information from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S. Homeland Security Intelligence.

In this updated version of the documentary “El Chapo: CEO of Crime,” a group of investigative reporters from Univision went to Sinaloa in pursuit of his trail.
