Biking while drunk. Yes, it's a real problem
The answer to the question is yes. You can get a BUI — that’s Bicycling Under the Influence. And according to a new government report, drinking and biking is a bigger problem that you might realize.
One-in-four fatal bike accidents involve a cyclist whose blood alcohol level is above the legal limit of .08, a statistic that’s remained stubbornly high even as the percentage of alcohol-involved traffic fatalities has dropped dramatically since the 80’s. And according to the same report, bike fatalities are on the rise, increasing 16-percent over a two year period.
