Emily Collins, Jess Peterson and Michaela Olsen run Mighty Oak, a Brooklyn-based animation studio dedicated to empowering women in traditionally male-dominated creative fields. They also recently finished filming a mini-documentary series called “HATCH,” for release later this year, which follows two female entrepreneurs who have created small businesses from nothing.
The ladies recently spoke with Fusion about how important it is for women to encourage each other to take chances, create businesses and live more fulfilling artistic lives. “What’s exciting [about running a studio] is the sharing process,” says Collins. “It’s about the women. It’s not about ambition or accolades—it’s about nurturing talent that hasn’t always been given a proper platform.”
