Shackled, denied medical care, fed rotten food: The truth about pregnancy behind bars
The new season of Orange is the New Black is out, and if you haven’t caught up on your binge-watching yet, what are you even doing with your life? It’s the weekend and you’ve got time to get up to speed—so hurry it up. But as your guide through the new episodes, you should take our special guest as a guide—Andrea Herrera, better known as Kat Stacks.
She’s probably hip-hop internet’s most famous former female prisoner, having served stints in both county jails and, then, more than three years in a federal immigration detention facility. (Read more about Herrera’s true story with human trafficking in our previous interviews with her here and here.) But Kat Stacks is also a huge Orange is the New Black fan, and she can comment on its accuracy by personal experience.
So we got her to review the new season from the lens of a former female inmate and detainee. Check out the video above to see what she had to say.
