Jose Antonio Vargas Has History of Questioning Why U.S. Won't Deport Him

Outspoken immigration-rights activist Jose Antonio Vargas was released by U.S. Border Patrol agents this afternoon after being briefly detained earlier this morning in McAllen, Texas. In this never-before-seen video from April 2013, Vargas, an undocumented immigrant, spoke to Fusion’s Jorge Ramos about the I.D. he travels with, what happened when he asked the U.S. government why they have never deported him, and why he likens his experience of “coming out” as an undocumented immigrant to coming out as gay.
