The Galaxy scored a bunch of goals and so it’s already won Major League Soccer

The LA Galaxy has been flying of late, especially in the attack. LA is averaging four goals per game in its last four contests and has shot up the table. Most impressively, the Galaxy has done this with a slew of top players missing, as Gyasi Zardes, Omar Gonzalez and Jaime Penedo have been playing in the Gold Cup and Steven Gerrard just played his first MLS match. Giovani dos Santos hasn’t even joined the squad yet.

And despite the absences, the Galaxy is scoring in bunches, which is why they find themselves atop the MLS table.

Yes, that is the MLS table. The Eastern Conference doesn’t get to play until they prove that they are capable of the “Major League” in Major League Soccer. Until then, the league has promotion and relegation and the East is the second division.

You might be sitting there thinking, “well, sure, the Galaxy is in first place, but they’ve played two more matches than anyone else in the league. All the Sounders or Whitecaps have to do is win one of their two matches in hand and they’ll be in front of LA.”

Technically, you would be right, but do you really think MLS would allow that? We all know that the league will do whatever it takes to make sure its favorite team stays on top. It’ll probably also make sure LA wins MLS Cup without even making it go through the playoffs.

Congrats, Galaxy!
