Candomblé: Brazil’s Most Popular Religion You Know Nothing About

Salvador da Bahia was once the first capital of Brazil, and it was also where they had the largest port receiving the most amount of African slaves. These slaves brought many different cultures, values, and religions to the new world in Brazil. Among the most popular African religion was Candomblé. Candomblé still has a large presence in Brazil today, mostly in the northeastern region of Salvador.

Mariana van Zeller travelled to Brazil’s old capital to find out why Candomblé is such an interesting window into the past and present of Brazil.
