A town in Kentucky was thrust into the spotlight last week when a county clerk was jailed for failing to obey a federal judge’s order to issue marriage licenses. Kim Davis, the clerk of Rowan County, first stopped processing marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples after same-sex marriage was legalized by the Supreme Court in June.
