Was Pope Francis tough enough on Mexicans?

DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz calls Trump a reality TV star with 'no depth or substance'

Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz called GOP frontrunner Donald Trump a “reality TV star who has shown absolutely no depth or substance or command of the issues in order to become President.”

Speaking to Fusion’s Jorge Ramos earlier today, Schultz said Trump’s rise in the polls and now two consecutive wins at primaries demonstrate “where the Republican Party base is today.”

She cited Trump’s attack on Mexicans, his anti-Muslim rhetoric, and questioning of John McCain’s military record as examples of the ways he is “espousing un-American policies.” She said the Party will ultimately suffer the consequences come the general election.

Schultz also rejected critics’ recent claims that she is supporting former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whose presidential campaign she co-chaired in 2008.

“You know, they’re entitled to their own opinion, they’re not entitled to their own facts,” she told Ramos. “My singular job as the Chair of the DNC is to help make sure we are ready to elect the Democratic nominee as President of the United States and I’m confident that we are going to achieve that because of how far off the deep end in terms of right-wing extremism Republicans have gone.”
